Exhibition
Here is the first part of photos on the exhibition "The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk" at the Barbican in London. The exhibition showcases clothing dating from 1975 until today belonging to different collections such as "Punk Cancan" or "Morphing", a costume worn by Beyoncé or an outfit inspired by Amy Winehouse.
The exhibition is divided into different parts, depending on the influences that had Jean-Paul Gaultier during his career, and guides us through the visit. It begins with the Odyssey which is a marine and mermaid world including sequined dresses, sailor uniforms and all kinds of glittery things. We can also see a Jean-Paul Gaultier doll with his face projected on the face of the model and speaks to you. It continues with the Punk Cancan part that combines Paris, with berets, Moulin Rouge and the Eiffel Tower, and London with the Union Jack, Amy Winehouse and tartan. We can also see an ashtray carried as a purse or a necklace made of cans cover.
The exhibition is a hub for creations and ideas. Usually, the photos or videos doesn't pay tribute to creations, because we cannot see all the details and work done on glossy paper. To see the clothes in real makes them most magnificent.
You will soon find the second series of photos on the world of Jean-Paul Gaultier at the Barbican on the blog.

L'art n'est pas toujours d'un goût exquis, mais il a le pouvoir de faire avancer les choses. Bisous
