The end of the year always encourages us to look back and define our desires for the coming year.

This year has been quieter than others in terms of new products and sales. A change in my life took up a lot of my time at the beginning of the year, so I had less time for Opian.

In any case, it was a year full of events and encounters! I also managed to finalize 4 pattern reissues, which had been on my to-do list for a while and which was close to my heart.

So let's find out more about this year 2024!

1 new sewing pattern

The TOMUL swimsuit arrived a little after the summer season to the delight of swimmers. It is a two-piece model composed of a bralette and high-rise knickers, all without underwire. This bikini provides comfort for movement and is ideal for swimmers who can combine two hobbies by sewing their sports swimsuit.

Best-sellers

As it has been since its release in 2018, the best-seller is the PILATUS swimsuit sewing pattern. I am really pleased that this swimsuit is so popular and that it allows women to feel good by the pool regardless of their body shape. However, I hope that another model will be as popular as this one in the future, because I don't want to be a one hit wonder!!!

Other favourite models this year are the JAMANOTA swimsuit and the SURIMANI hat, which are among the oldest in the collection. So don't hesitate to discover the most recent ones like the CIVETTA blouse or the FELSKINN swimsuit.

4 sewing pattern reissues

At the beginning of this year, I was able to dedicate my time to the reissue of old sewing patterns in order to update them with the current visual identity, as well as the addition of 3 additional sizes.

So you can enjoy the brand new sewing patterns for the LISKAMM swimsuit, the HERENS bathrobe and dressing gown, the CEMETTE skirt and the ALVERNIA dress.

7 markets

I was able to participate in seven markets during the year between Geneva and Montreux. It's always nice to meet the other participants and organizers, and to discover what people do outside of the routine of a day job.

However, this year I noticed a decrease in visits to creative and artisanal markets. I don't know if it's the interest in handmade that is fading or the multiplication of events of this type. What do you think? Do you like walking through the aisles of a market?

1 sewing event

In June, Ana from Tissu & Co invited Benedicte from Akikosmood and I for a sewing event in her pretty boutique in Rolle. Benedicte presented her collection of swimsuit fabrics, which you know well from the Opian kits, and I came with my paper sewing patterns and the boxes.

It's a real pleasure to participate in this kind of event and meet local people who sew, or to see in real life those we know from Instagram.

9 blog posts

The Opian blog is full of interesting articles on sewing, the costume history, inspiration for making your own garment and all the details of the new sewing patterns.

This year, you were able to discover how to transfer the instructions onto the fabric, the genesis between sewing and me, 4 ways to find the right side of the fabric, the slashes and how to get started in craft and creative markets.

For next year, I plan to participate in markets again to showcase the exclusive sewing kits. As for future sewing patterns, I am planning an original blouse that I hope you will like, as well as another swimsuit accessible to ultra beginners.

So thank you for your support this year 2024, whether it is the purchase of a kit or a sewing pattern, a like, a recommendation to a friend or a message, it is always greatly appreciated.
